A stunning building inside and out steeped with a 1000 years of history! Worth a visit
Excellent for its Abbey. The interior is breath taking. All I an say is its so worth a visit.
We stopped off at Wymondham to stretch our legs on a 3 hour drive and came across the abbey by surprise. We entered expecting to see the usual modest country church. How wrong were we, it was wonderful. It would take to long to go through all the beautiful and interesting things we saw so just go there yourself and be amazed. It has a good website so you can check it out.
Warm welcome, beautiful abbey. Lots of angels. Great idea of a DIY cafe in the vestibule. No admission charge, gift aid welcomed
We went to a Nativity service there on Christmas Eve, so I don't know if you would normally need tickets. Apart from the truly delightful nativity play, the Abbey has an absolutely stunning wooden ceiling with carved angels and a magnificent painted altar screen (reredos) and suspended square altar canopy. I can't wait to go back another time for a closer look inside and out to explore the relationship between older ruins and the current abbey church.
My only grumble is that I had no cash for a donation, but the electronic means of donating wouldn't work. Another reason to return!
I am pretty disabled and the website doesn't provide info about disabled parking there. It's on a VERY narrow road so to have parked outside on yellow lines would have used up important passing places. For this reason I chose to park in one of the two nearby carparks.
A beautifully kept and obviously loved church. Doubtlessly, I will visit here again. The range of architectures and sacred art is very special indeed!
Popped in briefly after a quick trip into town and as we had Bob our greyhound decided to have a look around as only a shortish walk from town centre. There are picnic tables and a cafe there which I'll have to try on another day. Architecturally the Abbey is stunning and definitely worth a visit. Dogs are very welcome with water available and dog treats for the well behaved ones at the front desk.
Wonderful and always welcoming. A wonderful Abby with a quaint cafe built onto it. All the staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have about the history, architecture, and art work displayed.
